The 60 metre-wide high-speed corridor will pass through 149 villages spread over 11 taluks. The detailed survey report has incorporated bypasses – covering 71.12 km – and alignment detours

The Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) is set to expedite work on its 12 Radial Ring Roads, covering a cumulative length of 175.84 km.

A notification has been issued on April 19 after a survey report on the proposed ring roads, that are tipped to decongest traffic within the City, taluk headquarters and major towns and ensure faster commercial transportation in and out of the City.

The Radial Ring Roads, as a concept, were mooted to supplement the proposed Bangalore Metropolitan Region-Intermediate Ring Road (BMR-IRR) that will link Harohalli, Bidadi, Nelamangala, Devanahalli, Hoskote, Sarjapur, Jigani and Tavarekere with the upcoming international airport in Devanahalli.

The idea is to upgrade the existing roads with the required alignment shifts.

The Radial Ring Roads will also connect the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)’s proposed Peripheral Ring Road (PRR). The 60 metre-wide high-speed corridor will pass through 149 villages spread over 11 taluks. The detailed survey report has incorporated bypasses – covering 71.12 km – and alignment detours. The notification also puts on paper the customary restriction of development along the entire road alignment.
