Bangalore: The State government on Friday issued the final notification for acquiring 72 private properties — between Trinity Circle and Binnamangala Cross — for ‘Reach 1’ of the Metro rail project. The notification has, however, left out 42 properties on CMH Road.

With this, all 72 identified private properties will be in the government’s possession and they will be utilised for the project. “We will start the work on the first seven km of Reach 1 as per the schedule.

The government will shortly take a decision on the remaining 42 properties also,” Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) Managing Director V Madhu told Deccan Herald. Though Mr Madhu said that there was no second thought over acquiring all identified properties on CMH Road, the dropping of these properties in the final notification has given enough indication that the Urban Development Department is reviewing its decision.

The seven km of Reach 1 is planned between Kanteerava Stadium and Byappanahalli. Of the properties identified for this project, a majority are government lands. “Property owners will be issued a notice in this regard shortly and the compensation package will be worked out within 30 days,” Mr Madhu said.

The BMRC Board which is meeting on January 20 is likely to clear tenders for the construction of viaduct (over which the rail passes). The tender award is of Rs 110 crore.
