‘Golden Trees, Green Spaces and Urban Forestry’ - a book written by Former IFS Officer S G Neginhal, will be formally launched on November 14. This handbook, which exhaustively deals with urban forestry in the country, is based on the author’s experience of planting over 1.5 million trees in greening and beautifying Bangalore city during 1982-87.

Neginhal who won National award of Indira Priyadarshini, has also authored ‘Your Bangalore, Your Trees’, ‘City Trees and Urban Planting’ & ‘Forest Trees of South India’.

His new book describes a total of 142 trees in their natural colours, their aesthetics, flowering seasons, medicinal values, uses and so on in its four parts. Part 1 describes 73 countryside and rural trees with colour pictures. Part 2 describes 69 ornamental city trees found in all the Indian cities with colour pictures, Part 3 provides the planting techniques, tree care, etc, for the benefit of laymen, and Part 4 deals with the basics of the Urban Forestry, providing information on the environmental values of trees, with illustrations. The book is priced at Rs 750.
