Praises and bashings - BMP Commissioner K Jairaj had a good share of them coming from his corporators on Thursday. The occasion was the BMP council meeting.

Among those who praised him, one billed him as a ‘time-bomb’ of a commissioner. Another puffed much pride that a “renowned bureaucrat” is there to handle it all for them. Both were seeking the commissioner’s intervention in works pertaining to their respective wards. The bashers did what they do - bash. One picked on the reports in sections of the media where the commissioner was quoted denigrating the corporators. “You have insulted us before the public. Tell us in what way have we been a hindrance,” demanded the corporator. A woman corporator, picked on the afternoon huddle the BMP’s senior rung have been going into of late at the IPP Centre in Vyalikaval. “You are never in office (at the main office). How do we get in touch with you so that you can address our problems,” she asked.

Response

Only the bashers got the response: Mr Jairaj flatly denied the media reports. “Misquoted,” he said. On availability: “I am in office from 9 am to 1 pm. Thereafter I am on spot inspections and meetings. Enquire at my office and meet me wherever I am,” he said.
