Underpass not suitable for Malleswaram

Underpass not suitable for Malleswaram

The work on underpass at Malleshwaram 5th cross started on Sunday amidst strong opposition from the residents and shopkeepers from Malleswaram.

According to Bangalore Mahanagar Palike Commissioner K Jairaj, the plan is being executed only after thorough examination, while residents argue that it was unscientifically planned.

“Fly- overs or under-passes are necessarily built to provide non-stop vehicular movement at Express Ways and major ring roads and they serve their purposes well there. But in the heart of the city like Malleswaram, the underpass cannot provide expected relief from the vehicular movement. Instead of constructing a underpass, the authorities should try and explore other alternatives”
