BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation will offer park and ride facility at concessional rates for its monthly pass-holders to discourage the use of private vehicles.

Initially, the facility is being offered at six places.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation Chief Traffic Manager Dastagir Sharief said the initiative was based on the Chief Minister's B-Track 2010 project wherein it was intended to reduce the load on the city's roads. Two-wheeler and four-wheeler users can park their vehicles between 9 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. for a monthly fee of Rs. 100 and Rs. 200, respectively. The six places where the facility is offered are Depot 5-Vijayanagara; Depot 17-Chandra Layout; Depot 8-Yeshwantapura; Depot 13-Kathriguppe; Jeevanbheemanagar Bus Stand and Banashankari Bus Station.

Mr. Sharief urged users of private vehicles to make use of the facility by parking their vehicle and travel by BMTC buses.
