Bangalore: The open roof double decker buses where tourists catch glimpses of famous cities like London, Rome and Sydney will now ply in our garden city by July. Tourists can hop on or off any of these buses that will travel a 14 km radius with 17 stops showcasing sights like the Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park, Museum, among others.
Conceptree Creations, says the 64-seater five fleet sightseeing buses, City Swaps, will offer tickets to passenger and can be used at any of these fleets for the entire day. The ticket prices, the company hopes, will be flexible and not exceed Rs 300 per person.
“I’ve lived in the west for many years and I picked up the idea from there,’’ says Avinash Kumar, who spearheads the company. “As a Bangalorean, I find that it has a good number of visitors but lacks such facilities.’’ Currently, the visitors either have to depend on public transport system or engage a private cab. “While the first is not always convenient, the latter is expensive,’’ he says.
On the other hand, City Swaps would have facilities such as live commentaries and a cafe on board. The informal seating arrangements on the upper deck, flexible ticket pricing and our live commentaries would be the biggest attractions,’’ he adds.
The frequency between two buses would be about half-an-hour and the total travel time in a bus would be two hours. The routes have been planned after a detailed study and discussions with the city traffic police. Most routes the bus would be plying on have wide roads. That would ensure a smooth ride.
The company authorities say, they already have the permits and no-objection certificates from authorities. “The buses are presently being manufactured in Tamil Nadu. We plan to produce it before the Transport Authorities for registration and other formalities by the end of the month,” he adds.
