The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is stepping up its flood prevention works by initiating clean-up drives and identifying dumping spots in each zone

The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is stepping up its flood prevention works by initiating clean-up drives and identifying dumping spots in each zone.

Targeting choked drains and culverts in six places in west zone, desilting work has been taken up in wards 3, 4 and 100. An apartment complex at Gururaj Layout on Kamakya Road, that had encroached over 350 square metres into the storm water drain was demolished by BMP staff under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (South) Yeshwanth.

Meanwhile temporary debris collection points have been identified by BMP in west and east zones.

BMP has warned that those who would be caught dumping debris other than these places will be penalised and their vehicles will be confiscated.

*West Zone

Malleswaram: Vacant government land under Khathanagar Yeshwantpur sub-division in Ward 1.

Mahalakshmipuram: New Circular Road, Dollars Colony, Nandini Layout in Ward 12.

Rajajinagar: New park on old Sub-registrar office road in Ward 15, Open space behind Government School, Kamala Nagar in Ward 16, Open space adjacent to petrol bunk, Thimmaiah Road, Basaveshwaranagar in Ward 19 and 20.

*East Zone

HRBR Layout: 1st block between 8th ā€˜Aā€™ and ā€˜Eā€™ Main in HRBR Layout in Ward 88.
