BANGALOREANS have a common complaint. It’s about the awful traffic of the City . This ti Deputy Commissioner of Police ( T raffic) Eas M A Saleem spoke straight from his heart a City and its traffic, as he attempts to improve it Bangalore was a pleasant City with full of nities in the initial years when I stepped Bangalore’s cosmopolitan culture and salubrious climate used to be its strength.

Now , the City has grown exponentially , both in human and vehicular population. Development of IT sector has brought in an economic boom. This has led to the sudden growth in vehicular traffic without the corresponding growth in infrastructure, thus leading to traffic congestion.

The traffic police has taken up several mea decongest the City . Planned one-ways have b implemented to reduce the journey time. Ban street parking has been done to increase the capac of road. Encouragement to public transport s has been taken care of through projects lik Route to School. Automated enforcement for b discipline on roads and installation of automatic pelican signals to ensure greater safety on roads been done.

The City has changed a lot over years and changes are not for good. But majority of changes Bangalore has undergone are for good. Howeve City is in need of a few changes at prese keeping in mind the infrastructure. Improvement a widening of existing roads and mass rapid system such as Metro and Mono Rail are the the hour .

Besides, adequate multi-level parking faciliti construction of flyover for a longer distanc congest an entire corridor and intelligent t system through area traffic controls is nece Focus should be given on automation enforcem for better discipline on roads. Good drainage sys and adequate facility for pedestrians in the sub-ways, sky walks etc. is required. Develo satellite towns away from the City instead of cong ing the City is necessary .

The City has high employment generation potential and can hold people from all walks of life rich, poor and middle class. All major research ce are located in Bangalore. That apart, good facilities and high quality education are al here.

However , the City has got certain loopholes Pollution level is very high with a constan greenery and landscapes. U nplanned and hapha growth in certain areas have led to congest Besides, inadequate public transport system menace here.

People should follow all the rules and regu especially traffic laws to make the City mo Improvement in road infrastructure, public tr facility and better enforcement will also help the sustain on its own.
