BANGALORE: An eco organisation has decided to host a series of street plays to create awareness about the need to protect the city’s greenery.

Hasiru Usiru will take its plays to various locations in the city. “This is all the more urgent and crucial in the light of the many ‘development’ activities planned by the authorities, which will have serious implications for greenery in the city,” says Rohan D’Souza, member, Hasiru Usiru.

The plays will try to present the problems facing environment due to the pressures of development. Handouts containing messages of eco-conservation will be distributed among the public. “We want to involve the general public through various activities,” he said.

The street play will be directed by Anto Francis, who is a trained and accomplished street theatre artist.

The group plans to take its plays to Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Jayanagar and Indiranagar.

Come this Sunday, the Hasiru Usiru eco team will perform on MG Road, opposite Food World, at 5 pm.
