Land is express need: BMIC

Land is express need: BMIC
Deccan Herald

With the Supreme Court giving the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project the green signal, project promoter Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) said it is ready to commence work on the expressway from the Mysore side also if the government allotted the land required.

The apex court verdict seems to have come as a big relief for NICE. Now the work will proceed at a much faster pace, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) Ltd Project Advisor M K Aggarwal told Deccan Herald.

The company, he said, is only waiting to be given the land. Allotment of land has been the only hindrance, Mr Aggarwal said, and some more land had to be handed over to complete the first phase.

Brisk pace

Meanwhile, at the project site work proceeds at a brisk pace — on the peripheral road, link road and the expressway itself.

By the end of June, NICE has planned to allow vehicular movement on the nine-km stretch of the peripheral road linking Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road, providing connectivity to Tumkur Road. A pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete bridge is now being constructed on Hosur Road, the commencement point of the peripheral road from Hosur Road.

Once the entire peripheral road network work is completed, motorists will be able to reach Tumkur Road from Hosur Road in less than 25 minutes instead of the hour-and-a-half that the circuitous route through the City entails.

Toll proposed

Motorists will have to pay a toll to use the facility. The proposed toll (per km) will be Re 1 for cars and 50 ps for two-wheelers. The nine-km stretch of peripheral road connecting Thalagattapura on Kanakapura Road and Kengeri on Mysore Road will be opened by April-end.

Another stretch of the peripheral road connecting Magadi Road and Mysore road (9.6 km) is expected to be completed by August.

NICE has constructed a pre-cast arched bridge — a first for the country — at Sompura, near Kengeri to provide an underpass for the existing village roads in the area.

Unlike a conventional bridge, this pre-cast bridge was assembled and installed in three weeks, the company said.

why is the bda trying to construct a parallel prr which is going to be very cost ineffective..they should work with NICE ppl to make the road free instead..maybe pay them something!
