BDA presents a better report card before Chief Minister

# Casualty Ward in Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital to be ready in a fortnight
# Underpass at Jayadeva Hospital scheduled for commissioning in April
# Final notification issued for Rs. 997-crore Hi-Tech city project

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Development Authority had a much better report card to present at Tuesday's review meeting on Bangalore's infrastructure than the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Commissioner of BDA M.N. Vidyashankar told Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh that the Rs. 27.6-crore Ananda Rao Circle Flyover connecting Khoday's Circle and Maharani's College junction will be ready to be opened for traffic two weeks from now. The Casualty Ward in Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, built at a cost of Rs. 9.33 crores, will be ready for inauguration at the same time.

Updating the Chief Minister on the status of other projects — all worth around Rs. 2,500 crores, Mr Vidyashankar said the main flyover of the Airport Road Flyover is chasing an April 2006 deadline for completion. The four loops of the flyover will be completed by July. The Jayadeva underpass is scheduled for commissioning in April while the loop will be ready by March 2006.

Hi-Tech City

Among the new projects, the final notification has been issued for the Rs. 997-crore Hi-Tech city project, which has faced 142 writ petitions filed in the Karnataka High Court. Project execution would be taken up after settlement of all litigation.

The 6.1-km Magadi Road- Mysore Road Outer Ring Road, scheduled to be completed by May 2007, is now being completed six months ahead, by December 2006. Works, which have been tendered, include Magadi Road Chord Road Junction, Ramamurthynagar underpass, five roads in Byatarayanapura and Bommanahalli city municipal councils.
