Bangalore: The GPS-wireless network between the traffic police and the Consortium of Trauma Care ensured that the ambulances reached Indian Institute of Science just ten minutes after they received the emergency call, despite the peak hour traffic jams.

The control room at the Consortium of Trauma Care got in touch with the police and at least six ambulances from different parts of the city were mobilised to the Institute. The position of the vehicles were tracked with the help of the GPS and the police ensured that they were given right of way, said neurologist Dr Venkatramana, who spearheads the Consortium of Trauma Care .

The first ambulances picked up patients and dropped them at the Mallige Hospital and the second dropped victims at the MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital. “We ensured that the victims were dropped at the nearest medical centre,’’ he said.
