The State government on Thursday announced that four-laning of the Bangalore-Mysore State Highway will be completed by September 30, much ahead of the Dasara festivities. Barring the works on seven major bridges along the highway, the civil works will be completed by month-end, Public Works Minister H D Revanna told reporters in Bangalore. In order to ensure speedy completion, the stretch from Jnanabharati to Kengeri will be made one-way from September 12-22 (10-days). Vehicles coming to Bangalore from Mysore will be diverted near Kengeri on the outer ring road. Vehicles can either use ORR near Kengeri or the Kanakapura main road to reach Bangalore, he added. As per the contract, work on the Maddur to Mysore stretch (49 kms) and Bangalore to Maddur stretch (60 odd kms), which has been entrusted to different contractors was scheduled to be completed only in June 2006, he said.
