New layouts developed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will be provided with civic amenities by October this year, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Responding to the matter raised by Jayaprakash Hegde (Independent) during question hour in the Assembly, Mr Singh said facilities such as roads, electricity, drinking water and underground drainage were being provided in Anjanapura, Sir M Visveswaraiah Layout and Sir M Visveswaraiah Extension by the BDA.

Earlier, the member took the Government to task for allowing the BDA to sell sites without providing proper civic amenities. Responding to the matter, Mr Singh said that “henceforth, the BDA will distribute sites only after providing all civic amenities”.

Responding to R Ashok of BJP, Mr Singh said that the Government will provide Cauvery water to seven CMCs and one TMC within 18-months. Work on the project taken up at a cost of over Rs 300 crore has commenced in June 2005, he said. “We will also simultaneously take up the task of providing underground drains”, he said.
