The Times of India
Bangalore: Valuable property worth crores located on Magarath Road has been allegedly bartered away to a private company by the BCC. This was the subject of a writ petition filed by B.H. Veeresha, a resident of Vijaynagar.
The petitioner challenged the legality of joint venture in Ward 71 where the BCC executed a development agreement with Ms Maverick Holdings for parking cum commercial complex which is a project worth Rs 250 crore.
The joint venture was executed without proper tender requirement and the tender notices were not advertised in newspapers. And the second company, Oxford Holdings did not pay the required amount of Rs 3.26 cr to BCC, which meant the tender was bagged by Maverick, the petitioner alleged.
The developer has constructed a commercial complex without securing prior approval. The venture has evaded stamp duty causing loss of Rs 4.5 crore, the court was told. The BDA collected a mere Rs 10,94,610 causing a loss of Rs 32 lakh to the governmen and the project has not obtained mandatory pollution control board clearances, he alleged.
