The National College junction flyover at Basavanagudi will be thrown open for vehicular traffic in the first week of August, Basavanagudi MLA K Chandrashekar said on Thursday.

The work on the flyover that attracted much resistance when it was sanctioned is nearing completion, he said and expressed the confidence that it will significantly ease the traffic congestion in the area.

Mr Chandrashekar (Congress), who is also a former mayor was speaking a Bangalore Mahanagara Palike organised programme in Kempegowdanagar (Ward 49) where sewing machines were distributed to women who had availed tailoring training from the BMP.

Taking note of the presence of Bangalore South MP Ananthkumar (BJP) also at the programme, Mr Chandrashekar said that irrespective of political affiliations they had worked for the development of the city by standing in support of the flyover.
