Karnataka State Industrial and Investment Development Corporation (KSIIDC) on Saturday signed a 30-year land lease deed, renewable for a period of another 30 years in favour of Bangalore International Airport Limited.

The landmark event sets the ball in motion for the construction of Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli, 35 kms from here. KSIIDC Managing Director I M Vittala Murthy effected the transfer of 3,884.25 acres in favour of BAIL, at Devanahalli sub-registrar’s office. BIAL was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Albert Brunner.

Terming the event as historic, Mr Murthy said the land acquiring process of almost five years involving several agencies culminated with the formality of legally handing over the document.

In a special gesture, the state government has given exemption for stamp duty and registration of the deed, according to an official press release.
