Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has taken up a drive to prune trees that are identified as ‘dangerous’ and ‘weak’, following heavy rains causing widespread damage across the city recently. Hundreds of trees were uprooted and branches of over 400 trees had fallen, leading to destruction in the recent rains.

Even a 24-year-old person was crushed to death in Jeevan Bhimanagar due to uprooting of a tree.

“We do not want to take any chances, especially after the recent rains. Branches of all dangerous trees that may fall due to rain or strong winds will be cut before monsoon rains,” BMP Horticulture officer Narayanaswamy said.
