Speaking at the inaugural function of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation call centre in Bangalore on Friday, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation Managing Director Upendra Tripathy said by punching the above digits, a commuter can procure information on bus timings, and frequency of buses or bus fares, with remarkable ease. The call centre timings are from 8 am to 8 pm.

“Information about ongoing tenders and staff recruitment is also available along with the location of bus depots,” said Mr Tripathy.

On the occasion, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) also inaugurated its ‘Sectorwise mini ring routes buses’ that will have buses plying through various neighbourhoods without bypassing the main bus terminal.

For instance, a bus starting from Jayanagar bus station would touch upon areas including Carmel Convent, Jayanagar 9th block East and Mico Layout before returning to its starting point, said Mr Tripathy.

“This will considerably reduce congestion in the City and provide suitable alternative for two-wheelers,” added Mr Tripathy.

School principals who had extended their cooperation to BMTC’s Safe Road to Schools project were felicitated during the function.
