BANGALORE, FEB. 28. A few budgetary proposals have addressed the State's concerns, though the Government would have been happier if some of the demands it placed before the Centre had been considered.

The most important proposal for the State is that of Bangalore being brought under the mega city development project of the National Urban Renewal Mission for which an outlay of Rs. 5,500 crores in 2005-06 has been made. The Bangalore Metro Rail Project, a Rs. 6,300-crore effort, will be funded through this, though the exact allocation has not been indicated for the year. The mission has been designed to meet the challenges of the rapid urbanisation of seven cities.
