The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) intends to take up Cauvery IV stage, Phase II at an estimated cost of Rs 3,400 crore to augment water supply to Bangalore City and surrounding areas.

Governor T N Chaturvedi, in his address to both Houses of the State legislature on Thursday, announced the BWSSB’s plans. Giving the highlights of various projects planned for the improvement of the City, he said flyovers and grade separators at important traffic junctions were proposed.

Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has taken up asphalting of 1,000 km of roads in the City at an estimated cost of Rs 130 crore. For enhancing the beautification of the City and for convenience of the public, a second ring road around the City has been planned. Bangalore Development Authority has plans to develop a hi-tech city on Hosur-Sarjapur road at an estimated cost of Rs 390 crore.

Mr Chaturvedi said that the Bangalore-One projecte aimed at delivery of a variety of services to the citizens of Bangalore under the concept of One-Stop-Shop would be launched by April 2.

The Governor said that a revised Comprehensive Development Plan for the City is under preparation. Base maps at a cost of Rs 12 crore using aerial photographic techniques are being prepared for 16 towns with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, he added.
