Around 1,000 musicians, artistes, magicians, comedians and dancers, from across the country, will soon descend into the City to enchant and enthrall the music, dance and art lovers. The contingent is all set to perform at the Bangalore Habba scheduled to be held in different parts of the City between December 5 and 12.
The highlight of this year’s Habba is an Eco-Parade on December 5 at Cubbon Park. The idea is to get the City’s crowd to do their bit toward making the City cleaner and greener. To tickle your tastes buds, here’s a range of delicacies from our own Raagimudde, Puliyogare to Kashmiri Gushtaba and traditional dishes at Palace Grounds from December 9 to 12.
For the music freaks, there is a rock show at Cubbon Park from December 5 to 9 where bands such as Atma, Synapse and Fahrenheit are slated to perform. The children’s film festival will screen films like Carpool, Free Willy, Scooby Doo and Jingle all the Way at Plaza theatre between December 3 and 9. The five-day ‘Magic Habba’, at the tree-lined boulevard opposite Bal Bhavan, will showcase the best of magical talents from across the country. The show will be a blend of traditional and modern magic acts.
Folk artistes from Karnataka will perform in 10 of the parks in the City. Lambani work garments, rural art display, photographs of Bangalore, wild life flora and eco-friendly products will be displayed at the artists walkway.
“This year, the Habba has been extended to cover every neighbourhood and locality in the City,” said Nandini Alva, member Artistes’ Foundation for the Arts in a press meet in Bangalore on Wednesday. She said the event was being organised at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore. Of the amount, Rs one crore would be collected by the organisers and the remaining contributed by the Centre (Rs 20 lakh) and the State Government (Rs five lakh) and added that Habba will soon be extended to the other districts of the State. Bangalore Habba will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Dharam Singh at the Jnana Jyothi Convocation Centre on December 5.
