BANGALORE: The Bellandur Lake, to which sewage and industrial effluents have been let, has once again started frothing and making life difficult for residents here. Rains which lashed the city two days ago, has resulted in the noxious froth spilling onto the roads around the lake.

Though the sight is not new to the residents, they are bewildered by the fact that nothing has been done to control the menace. Three years ago Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) had fined all the textile units for releasing effluents into the Koramangala and Chellaghatta valleys.

Shiva, a resident of the area says: “During rains the froth rises and is all over the road leaving vehicles stranded for hours.”

Another resident, Partha says, “Officials have promised that the lake will be cleaned in another three years time. The same was told to us a three years ago as well.”

Residents however, are still hoping that some measures are taken in the interim.
