Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on Saturday razed a portion of a multi-storey commercial complex at Brigade Road-Magrath Road Junction for deviating from the original building plan.

Over 100 BMP personnel smashed the glass panes that were put up “unauthorisedly” to cover the balcony portion of the six-storey H M Towers complex, in heavy police protection. The building had around 22 per cent deviation against the actual building plan sanctioned by BMP, BMP Executive Engineer (East) B T Ramesh said.

By covering the balcony with glasses, the owner had deviated up to 1.75 meters at the front portion facing Magrath Road and Brigade Road. “Despite issuing notices against glass cover, the owner had not responded. So, we carried out the demolition operation,” he added.

Besides, BMP has slapped a Rs 2 lakh penalty on the building owner as administrative charges for implementing demolition operation, Mr Ramesh said.

They are of this worth only. HM is highly irresponsible office. Most of the projects they carried out, they have lower quality, 0% customer satisfaction. The staff is just not mature enough to take care of customer concerns
