Here’s one reason for four-wheeler owners to relax: A unique Parking Informating System launched on Friday on the busy Brigade Road promises to ease the pressure of hunting for parking space in the street’s 85 bays.

Billed the first such venture in the country, the system introduced by the Brigades Shops and Establishments Association (BSEA) has a display board at the entrance of Brigade Road (the Cauvery Bhavan side).

This board will specify in yellow the words `Empty bay’ and specify the bay number where space is available. It also gives a ‘Full Parking’ warning in case of lack of space. Each bay is equipped with a sensor connected to a Central display system. This helps conveying the space status.

Hailing the venture, Special Commissioner, (Finance and Resources), Sandeep Dash, who inaugurated the facility, said it was “an epoch making innovation for surface parking.”

Another unique innovation launched on the street is the City’s first coin vending machine to be installed on a street. Drop in a Rs 10, Rs 50 or Rs 100 into a slot in this machine, and it gives five-rupee coins in exchange. This machine is aimed at making change available instantly for those parking their four-wheelers.

This Infres Methodex machine was purchased from Thomas Automatics, UK by the BSEA.
