Bangalore: The construction of the Rs 20-crore KSRTC satellite bus terminus at Byatarayanapura, on Mysore Road is progressing ahead of schedule and will be completed within the next two months according to KSRTC chief.
The Corporation's MD, M R Sreenivasa Murthy, told Vijay Times the Mysore Chrome Tanning Company (MCTC) terminus will significantly ease the traffic congestion at the Kempegowda bus stand as many buses to Mysore, Madikeri and Tumkur will be diverted through the new terminus. Spread over a 9 acres, with a built-up area of 1,49,800 sq ft, the MCTC terminus will consist of a KSRTC bus stand, separate bus bays for BMTC buses connected to the inter-state terminus by pedestrian subways.
A 4,670-sqmetre commercial complex with parking facility for 20 cars and 50 two-wheelers will also be a part of the complex.
The KSRTC plans to lease out the commercial complex to the corporate sector to generate revenue, which will be utilised to maintain the terminus. KSRTC Project Manager C S Narayana Iyer said the inter-state bus station will consist of 21 bus bays. Construction of the inter-state bus station began in November 2003.
