BANGALORE: Bellary Road witnessed a massive traffic thrombosis on Friday night as the Benny Hinn show ended for the day. Over 6,000 vehicles were still stuck at the venue even as late as 11 p.m. while the programme had ended two hours earlier.

The situation was so bad that the police had to cut off all vehicle movement to Jakkur airfield from Hebbal and Yelahanka directions. The entire stretch of Bellary Road was converted into a single way.

Police stopped all vehicles going from Hebbal to Jakkur at the flyover and forced them onto outer ring road towards Hennur or Dasarahalli. This in turn resulted in massive pile-up on Tumkur Road and ring road.

Similarly, they had stopped all vehicles coming from Yelahanka to city, in order to clear vehicles from the venue. According to a police estimate, a few thousand vehicles had arrived at the venue and combined with the crowd which surged out after the show, the area was paralysed.

Despite the elaborate parking measures, the police were seen throwing their hands up in despair trying to manage traffic jams that went totally out of control. The pile-up lasted till after midnight. The police are busy working out traffic management for Saturday.
